The Deschooling Journal

This yearly planner combines record-keeping and journaling targeted to the new homeschooling or unschooling parent. There is space to keep track of daily activities, positive homeschooling habits, and travel/field trip planning. However, what makes this planner special is that you are given journal prompts and quotes to help you rethink your own relationship with institutional learning; this is called "de-schooling."

Most of us learned maladaptive habits in school. As adults, these habits are primarily unconscious wounds, ones that continue to limit us in every arena of our lives, especially in our relationships with our children.

This journal is one step on the path of making these habits and ideas conscious, ideas such as: how and why learning happens, our limiting beliefs about what constitutes an "education," our narrow beliefs about what constitutes the optimal or ideal path for a young person, what is the definition of "success," and how we might inspire our youth without heavy-handed direction or silencing their inner creative spirit.
